We keep the amount of data we collect to a minimum. The site runs on WordPress and is delivered through standard hosting and a caching/CDN layer. The following information may reach us or our hosting/CDN providers when you use the site:
- Web server and CDN logs: your IP address, the date and time of the request, the page requested, referrer, and your browser/user-agent. These logs are created automatically to operate the service and protect it from abuse.
- Comments: if you choose to post a comment on an article, WordPress stores the comment text and the name, email address, and (optionally) website URL you provide. WordPress also records the IP address and browser/user-agent associated with the comment to help with moderation and abuse prevention.
- Emails you send us: if you write to one of our published addresses, we receive the contents of your message and any headers and metadata your mail service includes.
Cookies and local storage
The site uses only functional cookies necessary to run WordPress and to make optional features work:
- Administrator session cookies: set by WordPress only for logged-in administrators to manage the site.
- Commenter convenience cookie: if you leave a comment, you may opt in to saving your name, email address, and website in a cookie so you do not have to retype them the next time you comment.
- Caching/CDN cookies: the delivery network may place short-lived cookies or use similar technology to serve pages quickly and keep the site available. We do not use third-party analytics, advertising, or affiliate tracking cookies.
Why we use this information
We use information only for purposes that relate to running a small online publication:
- To deliver pages, maintain availability, and secure the site against misuse and attacks.

Who can see your information

How long we keep it
Retention periods are tied to the purpose:
- Server and CDN logs are kept for a limited time and then rotated or deleted according to hosting procedures designed for operations and security.
- Published comments are kept on the article until they are removed. Moderation records and related metadata may be retained as long as needed to manage abuse and enforce site rules.
- Emails you send us are kept as long as needed to handle your request or maintain a record of our correspondence.
Your choices and rights
You do not have to provide personal information to read the site. If you do interact with us, you have options:
- Comments: you can choose whether to comment and what name or website to display. You can ask us to remove your own comment.
- Cookies: you can clear or block cookies in your browser. Functional cookies are required for administrator login and the optional commenter convenience feature.
- Access, correction, deletion: you can request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where we no longer have a reason to keep it.
